Ansley was a town in Jackson Parish Located 10 miles south of Ruston. Ansley was a the typical sawmill town. It grew up around the the Davis Brothers saw mill and never consisted of much more than the mill holdings Ansley was the maiden name of Virgil Davis’ wife.
The brothers were John Melville Davis, James Miller Davis, Robert Wesley Davis and Virgil Montey Davis. The Davis brothers saw mill operated from 1902 to 1957. The Post Office was established in 1902 and discontinued in 1965. Virgil Davis was the first Postmaster.
